Johnny Colon - Boogaloo '67 1967 (Cotique)

Label : Cotique
Value :
The follow-up to Johnny Colón's debut blockbuster album Boogaloo Blues, Boogaloo '67 is an energetic and cutting-edge work of art that is leaps and bounds above the average boogaloo record. Featuring the recognizable vocals of Tito Ramos and his TNT Band partner Tony Rojas, the album is thick with deep harmonies. While boogaloo often gets a bad rap, this album proves that there is so much more to these albums than just a couple English-language tracks that they are often known for. Heavy Latin jams like 'Moyenelle' and 'Echala Pa Ca' are rife with both traditional Cuban sounds and American jazz that Colón borrowed from trombonists J. J. Johnson and Kai Winding. Long out of print, remastered and reissued on vinyl (140 gram virgin vinyl for super fidelity) for the first time, Boogaloo '67 will continue to offer listeners new experiences.
